Education

Mr. Madris is a 1988 graduate of Cornell University, where he was on the Dean’s List.  He is a 1991 graduate of Boston University School of Law, where he finished in the top 25% of his class.  He also finished second in the Northeastern Region in the national law school debating championships.

Law Firm Experience

Mr. Madris spent his first five years of legal practice in the bankruptcy department of the Los Angeles office of the large international law firm Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP.  Starting in 1996, Mr. Madris practiced for approximately twelve years at SulmeyerKupetz, A P.C., a respected mid-sized bankruptcy firm in downtown Los Angeles.

As result of Mr. Madris' skills and ethics, he has attained an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell's Peer Review Ratings, reflecting that Mr. Madris and his Law Office have "the highest level of professional excellence," and "adhere to the highest professional standards of professional conduct and ethics."

Mr. Madris has had various articles published in the Los Angeles (and San Francisco) Daily Journal -- the leading daily legal publication in California -- and in Business Credit Magazine.   Mr. Madris has also appeared as a guest commentator on CNN News, CNN Headline News and The Greta Van Sustern Show concerning bankruptcy-related topics.

Personal

Mr. Madris lives with his wife and daughter in West Los Angeles.  When he is not spending time with his family or working, he enjoys following sports ranging from baseball to soccer, traveling, and listening to music of the “power pop” genre.  He has a US Chess Federation rating and speaks conversational Portuguese.  For over a decade, Mr. Madris was on the Board of Directors of the Cornell Club of Los Angeles.  Mr. Madris and his wife are also active in their local synagogue in the Pico-Robertson community.
